Mountain hiking and trekking in the Pyrenees

Mountain hikes are a like a natural keep-fit course, in 2 weeks trekking you can replace your excess fat with muscle. The mountain terrain will improve strength, stamina and natural health and beauty.

Learn the skills necessary for trekking through the mountains safely.

A mountain hike is for a day. Only a small pack is needed.

Treks can be for two or more days in groups of 4 to 6 hikers, with lightweight tent, rucksack, food, water clothing and more. A large pack is needed.

Pyrenees treks can go from mountain refuge to mountain refuge, so only a small pack is needed.

The further it's away from civilization, the more adventurous the trek or hike in the mountains becomes.

Difficulty levels

Pyrenees mountain trekking and mountain hikes are classified according to the level of experience required at the start.

Level:

1 boot - the MARMOT would like to hike in the mountains but has little training, cannot read a map and would get lost.

2 boots - the GOAT practices some kind of sporting activity, but has little experience in mountains, crossing snowfields, climbing steep slope or orientation in the mountains.

3 boots - the LYNX knows the mountains, practices a physical activity on a regular basis and knows its limits,

4 boots - the CHAMOIS is an experienced all-season mountain hiker able scramble up rock and to stop a slide on a snow slope.

Graded upwards from gentle middle mountain circuits to the famous sea-to-sea Pyrenean Haute Route, the treks described here will offer ever changing scenery, dramatic views and the sheer pleasure of making your way from place to place under your own steam.

A fully qualified leader leads all the treks.

For your pleasure and the safety of the entire group, try to choose the hike that suits your ability.
