Visit the daunting Cirque of Gavarnie with its 426 meters waterfall or the famous deep blue Lac du Gaube below the north face of the Vignemale. You can walk past violent water cascades in the pine forests of the Marcadau valley or trek into Spain through the gigantic natural stone doorway at the Breche de Roland.

For a more sedate interlude, browse around the agricultural markets and try the excellent local cheeses, honey and wines. Spend some time in some of the higher villages. Golf, Fishing, Cycling, Skiing or Climbing are a few alternatives.

Tourism is a growing industry. Hot springs, winter sports, hunting, rafting, hiking, sightseeing, and the mountain fishing attract a large number of visitors.

However the region's infrastructure, winter sports and nature park facilities have not yet been fully utilized.

Even though the Pyrenees provide some of the most famous mountain trekking and hiking in the world, you can walk for miles and see no people.
